Webrain ships as a single static binary and a Docker image — no runtime dependencies beyond the browser engines it manages itself.

Docker

A multi-arch docker/Dockerfile is provided, plus docker/docker-compose.yml for the full stack. Build and run:
On Windows/macOS, run engines via Docker Desktop.

Releases & versioning

  • Semantic versioning with GitHub Releases; each release ships one prebuilt binary per platform and architecture — webrain-{linux,macos}-{x86_64,aarch64}, webrain-linux-x86_64-musl (static) and webrain-windows-{x86_64,aarch64}.exe. The install scripts pick the one that matches the machine; there is no webrain-linux/webrain-macos catch-all.
  • webrain upgrade detects the install method (Homebrew, Scoop, manual) and updates automatically.
  • CHANGELOG.md tracks changes under [Unreleased].

IDE integration

Webrain is an MCP server — there is no separate extension to publish. Any MCP-capable IDE works: Claude Desktop — claude_desktop_config.json:
